🧭 Master Definition & The Ba’al Connection
The title “Lord” (and in all capital letters “THE LORD”) was used by King James translators to replace the sacred personal Name Yahuah over 6,828 times in the Old Testament!
What Does “Ba’al” Mean in Hebrew?
Open any Hebrew concordance (Strong’s Hebrew #1168):
- Ba’al (בַּעַל) literally translates to: “LORD, MASTER, OWNER, POSSESSOR.”
- When ancient Canaanites and apostate Israelites worshipped the sun/storm idol at Peor, Tyre, and Samaria, they did not call him “Satan”; they called him “The Lord” (Ha’Ba’al)!
- By substituting “THE LORD” in place of Yahuah, Bible translators literally committed the exact crime warned about by Jeremiah:
“Their fathers have forgotten My name for Ba’al [The Lord].” (Jeremiah 23:27)
🏰 Feudal English Etymology
- The English word “Lord” derives from the Old English hlāfweard (hlāf = “loaf / bread” + weard = “ward / guardian”).
- It literally meant the “bread-keeper” or feudal landlord who owned the physical serfs and peasants working the estate.
- It is a human, feudal political title of nobility, completely inadequate to express the sovereign self-existent holiness of Yahuah.
💔 The Prophecy of Hosea: Husband vs. Lord
In Hosea 2:16–17, the Father reveals His aching heart toward His covenant bride:
- Ba’ali = “My Master / My Lord” (A cold, contractual master-slave relationship).
- Ishi = “My Husband” (An intimate, loving marriage covenant based on true names).
- Yahuah states that when His people are finally redeemed, He will purge the word “Lord” (Ba’ali) completely out of their mouths!
