‘Ĕḇer (Eber) - The Father of the Hebrews and Guardian of the Pure Tongue

Forensic Identification

Paleo-Hebraic Identity: ‘Ĕḇer (עֵבֶר - meaning “The One Who Crosses Over” or “The Region Beyond”). Great-grandson of Shêm and father of Peleg and Yoqtan (Berĕshith 10:21–25, 11:14–17). Covenant Designation: From his name is derived the eternal designation ‘Iḇri (Hebrew).

1. Preserving the Pure Tongue at Babel

The ancient records preserve that ‘Ĕḇer refused to participate in the rebellion of Nimroḏ at the Tower of Babel. Consequently, when Yahuah confounded the speech of humanity, ‘Ĕḇer and his household alone retained the pristine Paleo-Hebrew language—the set-apart tongue spoken by the Creator in the Garden of Ĕḏen.

2. Crossing Over the Great River

‘Ĕḇer crossed over the Euphrates, separating himself geographically and spiritually from the Babylonian idolatry of the plains of Shin’ar, establishing the uncorrupted lineage that produced Aḇraham.
