✦ STEP 6: THE REIGN OF SOLOMON: THE HEAVENLY TEMPLE, IMPERIAL ZENITH, AND THE GREAT APOSTASY ✦
The Sacerdotal Zenith and The Warning
“Speak light, not sorcery.” — “Return to the Original Witness.”
“And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Yahuah, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of Yahuah had filled the house of Yahuah. Then spake Shelomoh, Yahuah said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.”
— 1 Melakim (1 Kings) 8:10–13
“For it came to pass, when Shelomoh was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with Yahuah his Elohim, as was the heart of Dawiḏ his father. For Shelomoh went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites… Then did Shelomoh build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Yerushalayim, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.”
— 1 Melakim (1 Kings) 11:4–5, 7
🧭 Executive Overview of Block 06
Block 06 concludes the master narrative of Phase 9: The United Monarchy, tracking the transition from the golden imperial zenith of Yisra’ĕl under Shelomoh (King Shelomoh) (Years 2960–3000 AM) to the tragic theological rot that severed the kingdom:
- The Coup of Adonijah & The Gihon Coronation (1 Kings 1): As King Dawiḏ lay bedridden and dying, his fourth son Adonijah conspired with General Joab and High Priest Abiathar to seize the crown at the serpent stone of Zoheleth (En-Rogel). Interrupted by the swift intervention of the prophet Nathan and Bathsheba, Dawiḏ commanded that Shelomoh be set upon the royal mule, led down to the Gihon Spring, anointed with the sacred horn of oil by Priest Zadok, and proclaimed king with national blasts of the shofar.
- The Nocturnal Gift of Wisdom at Gibeon (1 Kings 3): Sacrificing 1,000 whole-burnt offerings at the high place of Gibeon (where Mosheh’ Tabernacle still stood), Yahuah appeared to Shelomoh in a night vision: “Ask what I shall give thee.” Refusing riches, long life, and the destruction of his enemies, Shelomoh asked for an understanding heart (Lev Shomea, ‘a hearing heart’) to judge the covenant people. The gift was immediately vindicated in the famous Trial of the Two Harlots and the Severed Living Infant.
- The Erection of the First Temple on Mount Moriah (1 Kings 5–8; 2 Chronicles 2–7): Over a meticulous seven-year period (Years 2964–2971 AM), Shelomoh constructed the First Temple atop the threshing floor of Araunah on Mount Moriah without the sound of an iron hammer, axe, or tool heard on-site. Using Lebanese cedars floated on the Mediterranean by Hiram king of Tyre, stone quarried in silence, colossal olive-wood Cherubim spanning 20 cubits, and the bronze masterwork of Huram-Abi (the twin bronze pillars Jachin and Boaz, the 10-cubit Molten Sea on 12 oxen), the Ark was installed in the Holy of Holies. The Shekinah Glory Cloud and fire from heaven consumed the sacrifices, filling the house with overwhelming holiness.
- The Imperial Zenith & The 666 Talents of Gold (1 Kings 9–10): Yisra’ĕl’s golden age expanded into global dominance: annual revenue of 666 talents of gold, ivory thrones overlaid with pure gold, fleets of Tarshish ships bringing exotic wonders, and the diplomatic state visit of the Queen of Sheba, who confessed that the half had not been told her.
- The Transgression of the Torah of the King & The Great Apostasy (1 Kings 11): In direct, systematic defiance of the three royal prohibitions codified in Deuteronomy 17:16–17, Shelomoh (1) multiplied horses from Mitsrayim, (2) multiplied silver and gold, and (3) took 700 royal wives and 300 concubines from the forbidden Canaanite and pagan nations. His heart was seduced; he built sacrificial high places directly opposite the Temple on the Mount of Olives (The Mount of Corruption) for Molech, Chemosh, and Ashtoreth, personally sacrificing to child-consuming abominations.
- The Divine Indictment & Ahijah’s Torn Garment (1 Kings 11:9–43): Yahuah appeared in wrath to Shelomoh, declaring that the kingdom would be ripped out of the hand of his son, leaving only one tribe for Dawiḏ’s sake. The prophet Ahijah the Shilonite intercepted Jeroboam ben Nebat on the road from Yerushalayim, tearing his new garment into twelve pieces, delivering ten pieces to Jeroboam. Following 40 years of reign, Shelomoh died at age 60 (Year 3000 AM), plunging Yisra’ĕl into the catastrophic fracture of the Divided Monarchy.
📯 Section 1: The Gihon Coronation & The Sacerdotal Purge (1 Kings 1–2)
As King Dawiḏ reached age 70, worn out by decades of warfare and frozen with cold (covered with clothes, but gat no heat), his eldest surviving son Adonijah (the handsome brother of Absalom) seized the political vacuum:

The Collapse of the Conspiracy
When Jonathan son of Abiathar ran into Adonijah’s feast, announcing that Dawiḏ had made Shelomoh king at Gihon, all the guests were afraid, rose up, and fled every man his way (1 Kings 1:49).
Adonijah fled to the Tabernacle, grabbing the horns of the Bronze Altar in terror. Shelomoh showed royal clemency, declaring: “If he will shew himself a worthy man, there shall not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die” (1 Kings 1:52).
The Dying Charges of Dawiḏ & The Sacerdotal Purge (1 Kings 2)
Before passing into the dust, King Dawiḏ gave Shelomoh his final charge:
“I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; and keep the charge of Yahuah thy Elohim, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments… that Yahuah may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way… there shall not fail thee a man on the throne of Yisra’ĕl.” (1 Kings 2:2–4)
Dawiḏ instructed Shelomoh to execute righteous courtroom restitution against three compromised figures:
- The Execution of Joab (1 Kings 2:28–34): Joab fled to the Tabernacle and seized the horns of the altar. Shelomoh commanded Benaiah ben Jehoiada to strike him down even at the altar, avenging the innocent blood of General Abner of Yisra’ĕl and General Amasa of Yahuḏah, whom Joab murdered in cold blood in times of peace (shedding the blood of war in peace).
- The Deposition of High Priest Abiathar (1 Kings 2:26–27): Shelomoh banished Abiathar to his fields in Anathoth, stripping him of the High Priesthood because he joined Adonijah. Scripture explicitly notes that this fulfilled the prophecy of Yahuah spoken against the house of Eli at Shiloh (1 Samuel 2:31–35), transferring the High Priesthood permanently to Zadok of the zealous line of Pinechas.
- The Execution of Shimei the Benjamite (1 Kings 2:36–46): Confined to Yerushalayim under oath on pain of death if he crossed the brook Kidron, Shimei violated his parole three years later to chase runaway slaves to Gath, and was executed by Benaiah.
🧠 Section 2: The Gibeon Vision and The Trial of Two Harlots (1 Kings 3)
Before the Temple was constructed, Shelomoh journeyed to Gibeon—the great high place where the original Brazen Altar and Tabernacle of the Congregation fashioned by Mosheh were situated (2 Chronicles 1:3–5). Shelomoh offered one thousand whole burnt offerings (Olot) upon that altar.

The Forensic Trial: The Two Harlots (1 Kings 3:16–28)
Upon returning to Yerushalayim, Shelomoh’s gift was immediately tested in a courtroom dilemma where there were no witnesses, no evidence, and conflicting testimony:
- Two harlots dwelling in one house gave birth three days apart.
- One woman rolled over her infant in her sleep (smothered it), secretly swapped her dead child for the living infant of the other woman at midnight.
- In the morning, both women stood before the throne screaming: “The living is my son, and the dead is thy son!”

🏛️ Section 3: The Erection of the First Temple on Mount Moriah (1 Kings 5–8; 2 Chron 2–7)
In the 480th year after the children of Yisra’ĕl were come out of the land of Mitsrayim—in the fourth year of Shelomoh’s reign (Month 2, Ziv — Year 2964 AM)—Shelomoh began to build the House of Yahuah upon Mount Moriah at the threshing floor of Araunah (2 Chronicles 3:1).

The Sacerdotal Dedication Prayer (1 Kings 8:22–53)
Shelomoh stood before the altar of Yahuah in the presence of all the congregation of Yisra’ĕl, spread forth his hands toward heaven, and delivered a monumental covenant intercession:
- He acknowledged the transcendence of the Creator: “Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded!” (1 Kings 8:27).
- He petitioned that whenever the people should sin, be defeated by enemies, suffer drought, pestilence, or locusts, or be carried away captive into foreign lands—if they should turn with all their heart and pray toward this holy Temple and confess His Name, Yahuah would hear from heaven, forgive, and restore them.
💰 Section 4: The Imperial Zenith and The 666 Talents of Gold (1 Kings 9–10)
Following the dedication, Yahuah appeared to Shelomoh a second time, affirming His covenant with an explicit conditional warning:
“If thou wilt walk before me, as Dawiḏ thy father walked… then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Yisra’ĕl for ever… But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments… then will I cut off Yisra’ĕl out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight.” (1 Kings 9:4–7)

The Sacerdotal Mystery of the 666 Talents of Gold
1 Kings 10:14 records with eerie prophetic precision:
“Now the weight of gold that came to Shelomoh in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold (666 Talents).”
In biblical numerology and courtroom prophecy:
- 666 is the mathematical number of man striving to attain divine stature through material wealth, imperial commerce, and occult power (Revelation 13:18).
- At the very pinnacle of Shelomoh’s earthly glory, the number 666 appears as a warning signpost in the text. Shelomoh had crossed the threshold from a sacerdotal servant-king of Yahuah into an imperial titan operating in the spirit of the Babylonian world system.
🛑 Section 5: The Transgression of Deuteronomy 17 and The Great Apostasy (1 Kings 11)
The tragedy of Shelomoh was not sudden; it was the direct, systematic violation of the Torah of the King codified by Mosheh four centuries earlier in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 17:14–20:
flowchart TD subgraph STATUTE["THE CONSTITUTIONAL TORAH OF THE KING (Deut 17:16–17)"] T1["LAW 1: 'He shall NOT MULTIPLY HORSES to himself, nor cause the people to return to Mitsrayim'"] T2["LAW 2: 'Neither shall he MULTIPLY WIVES to himself, THAT HIS HEART TURN NOT AWAY'"] T3["LAW 3: 'Neither shall he GREATLY MULTIPLY TO HIMSELF SILVER AND GOLD'"] end subgraph VIOLATION["SOLOMON'S SYSTEMATIC TOTAL DEFIANCE (1 Kings 10–11)"] T1 -.->|VIOLATED| V1["1 Kings 10:26–28: Amassed 1,400 Chariots & 12,000 Horsemen;
Imported Horses Directly from EGYPT for 150 Shekels Each"] T2 -.->|VIOLATED| V2["1 Kings 11:1–3: LOVED MANY STRANGE WOMEN;
700 Wives (Princesses) & 300 Concubines from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Zidon, Hittites"] T3 -.->|VIOLATED| V3["1 Kings 10:14–27: Multiplied Gold by 666 Talents;
Silver Counted as Ordinary Cobblestones"] end
The Anatomy of Seduction: 1,000 Wives (1 Kings 11:1–8)
Shelomoh engaged in marriage alliances to secure regional non-aggression treaties with surrounding pagan empires:
“For it came to pass, when Shelomoh was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with Yahuah his Elohim, as was the heart of Dawiḏ his father.” (1 Kings 11:4)

The Desecration: The Mount of Corruption
Shelomoh took the very wealth, stone, and royal engineers of the Kingdom and constructed pagan sacrificial sanctuaries on the southern ridge of the Mount of Olives, directly overlooking the holy Temple of Yahuah!
- This ridge became permanently branded in biblical history as Har Ha-Mashchit (The Mount of Corruption / Mount of Offense) (2 Kings 23:13).
- King Shelomoh—the man who wrote Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Songs, who had twice seen Yahuah in direct theophanies—was bowing down before the bronze furnace of Molech, the demon god into whose red-hot metal arms living infants were placed while drums drowned out their screams.
⚡ Section 6: Ahijah’s Torn Cloak & The Fracture of the Kingdom (1 Kings 11:9–43)
The courtroom wrath of Yahuah burned against Shelomoh:
“And Yahuah was angry with Shelomoh, because his heart was turned from Yahuah Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, which had appeared unto him twice… Wherefore Yahuah said unto Shelomoh, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.” (1 Kings 11:9, 11)

The Passing of Shelomoh (1 Kings 11:41–43)
Following forty years of reign over all Yisra’ĕl, Shelomoh died at approximately age 60 (Year 3000 AM) and was buried in the City of Dawiḏ.
His son Rehoboam (Rechav’am) ascended the throne, confronted immediately by the crushing tax burdens and forced labor systems established by his father, triggering the catastrophic, permanent fracture into the Northern Kingdom of Yisra’ĕl (10 Tribes under Jeroboam) and the Southern Kingdom of Yahuḏah (Yahuḏah & Benjamin under Rehoboam) (1 Kings 12).
📊 Comprehensive Synthesis: Dawiḏ vs. Shelomoh

🎯 Key Study Conclusions & Courtroom Takeaways
- Wisdom Without Obedience is Lethal Folly: Shelomoh was the wisest mortal who ever lived, authoring thousands of proverbs and songs. Yet his vast intellect could not save him when he compromised the plain commandments of the Torah. Intellect without obedience always ends in spiritual delusion.
- The Subtlety of Incremental Compromise: Shelomoh did not start by bowing to Molech; he started by importing horses from Mitsrayim, accumulating excessive gold, and marrying an Mitsrite princess for political diplomacy. Minor transgressions against the Torah inevitably pave the highway to total demonic apostasy.
- The Danger of the 666 System: Shelomoh’s 666 talents of gold demonstrate that when spiritual leaders adopt the financial methodologies, ostentatious luxuries, and exploitative taxation systems of the world, they take on the mark of the beastly world empire.
- The God of the Thick Darkness: Shelomoh recognized that while the Temple was overlaid with gold, Yahuah chose to manifest in the thick darkness (Arafel) of the Holy of Holies. The true presence of the Creator cannot be captured by human architecture, art, or liturgy; He dwells with the humble and contrite heart.
- The Unbroken Light of Dawiḏ: Despite Shelomoh’s catastrophic apostasy and the tearing of the ten tribes, Yahuah preserved the royal lamp of Dawiḏ in Yerushalayim. Human monarchs fail, empires shatter, and stone temples burn to ashes; but the Throne of Dawiḏ established in Yahusha Ha’Mashiach stands eternal, unshakable, and victorious through all generations.
